Luniescence was born from a simple observation: in most homes, lighting is the last thing people think about, and the first thing they have to put up with. You spend weeks choosing a sofa, then screw the first light fixture you find in a big-box store onto the wall—and the room still feels cold without you knowing why.
What we look for
We select lighting that makes the fixture disappear. A successful wall light doesn't draw attention to itself: you notice the light it casts on a wall, the warmth it brings to a bedroom in the evening, the way a hallway stops feeling like a hallway. That is the only criterion that truly matters to us.
In practice, this means ruling out a lot of things. Overly expressive shapes that will look dated in two years. Finishes that show every fingerprint. Lights that are too white, too harsh, turning a living room into a waiting room. What remains is featured in a deliberately short catalog: wall lights, ceiling lights, pendant lights, in wood, glass, stone, and matte metal.

Luniescence is a small French company based in Challes-les-Eaux, founded and run by Thierry Becourt. No store, no middlemen: the catalog is selected piece by piece and sold directly, allowing us to offer beautifully crafted lighting at reasonable prices.
